Abu Dhabi Sports Council Board Of Directors Approves Sports Budget For The Next Phase

The Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) held its periodic meeting to discuss business developments and plans for the sports sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to provide initiatives and support as well as achieve community interaction for the next phase.

The meeting at the sports council headquarters on Wednesday chaired by His Excellency Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Vice Chairman of ADSC was attended by members of the Board; Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, Mohamed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Dr Omniyat Mohammed Al Hajri, Musallam Salem Al Amri and Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of ADSC.

The plans for the international sporting events to be hosted in Abu Dhabi in the next phase and increase the successes achieved during the past were reviewed and assessed by the Board of Directors.

They emphasised Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading sporting destination and their management acumen of hosting major events in light of the wide global response it received from international sports federations and institutions.

The administration continues their distinguished organisational plans to host events of the highest quality standards to enhance the Emirate's gains as well as the important role in attracting a diverse range of sports, which contributes to achieving the desired goals in terms of technical aspects, public, media and promotional momentum for the Emirate.

The budget for the sports sector and the internal audit report of ADSC were reviewed along with the general performance indicators of sports institutions and clubs.

The business progress plan of the specialised sports clubs developed for Olympic sports were also on the agenda of discussion. They include: Abu Dhabi Fencing Club, Abu Dhabi Athletics Club, Abu Dhabi Weightlifting Club, Abu Dhabi Archery Club, Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club and Abu Dhabi Tennis Club.
