* His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, attended part of the UAE Tour competitions held in the Al Marmoum area, during the fourth stage of the Tour’s sixth edition. The route began at the Dubai Police Officers Club, and passed through a number of the city’s most prominent landmarks and world-famous architectural icons until reaching the finish line at Dubai Harbour.

* His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, attended part of the UAE Tour competitionsr, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with the participation of 140 cyclists representing 22 international teams, as part of the sixth edition of the global sporting event. 

* The winner of the Tour title and the winners of the jerseys, were crowned by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Frontline Heroes Office, His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Director-General for the General Authority of Sports, His Excellency Dr. Aref Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of Khalifa University, Ali Saeed Bin Thalith, Senior Director of Marine Engineering at Nakheel, and Ayman Al Bijawi, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Bin Hamoodah Company, at the end of the seventh and final stage, held in Al Ain.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, witnessed part of the competition of the fourth stage, as the riders passed through the Al Marmoom area.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, also viewed part of the sixth stage of the Tour and was keen to welcome all the riders passing through the most prominent landmarks of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Head of the Community Development Department Abu Dhabi, participated in the winners’ coronation ceremony, alongside His Excellency Osama Al Shafar, President of the Asian Cycling Confederation and Vice President of the International Federation, Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Council Abu Dhabi Sports Club, Mubarak Hamad Al Muhairi, Undersecretary of the Department of Education and Knowledge, Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Tourism Product Development Department at the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abdullah Al Rashidi, CEO of Tamouh Healthcare, Ayed Al Ahbabi, legal advisor at the Abu Dhabi Council, Ahmed Ibrahim, marketing director at the International Holding Company, and Ahmed Al Ghafli, company representative from Nakheel.

Pogačar won the winner’s red jersey, sponsored by the International Holding Company, and the white jersey, sponsored by Nakheel for the Best Young Cyclist. Belgian Jasper Philipsen was awarded the green jersey, sponsored by the Italian Trade Agency, as the leader in points, while Russian Dimitri Strakov won the black jersey, sponsored by Abu Dhabi Aviation, for the leader in the Super Sprint stage.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office greeted the riders participating in the UAE Tour as they passed through Al Hudayriat island, the heart of tour’s second stage.

The third edition of the UAE Tour was held without a public presence and under the highest safety standards. Preventive measures and precautionary measures were in accordance with a strict health protocol aimed at ensuring the safety of all participants and organisers in light of the repercussions of the 2019 Covid pandemic.

The UAE Tour is the only international race in the Middle East that is held at the beginning of the calendar year. The 2021 UCI races highlighted the country’s stature and exceptional capabilities in crisis management, alongside its great commitment to the global sports community.

By resuming sports activity in light of the support of the wise leadership, the UAE played a major role in achieving rapprochement in the country, which is already known for peace and tolerance.

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed one of the competitions of the UAE Tour, alongside His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Head of Office Abu Dhabi Executive, as they greeted riders passing through Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council decided to cancel the remaining two stages of the UAE Cycling Tour after two positive cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) were detected among the Italian team.

The UAE Tour is the only World Tour Race held in the Middle East.

Number of Volunteers: 1,000

The 2019 UAE Tour was broadcast on television to more than 200 countries around the world. The live broadcast time clocked more than 54 hours on the Eurosport channel for its viewers in Europe, and more than 38 hours for the channel’s viewers in Asia and Oceania.

The cumulative number of broadcast hours for all countries reached 2,777 hours.
