Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub is the exclusive venue to host Afghan cricket training sessions and matches from 2025 to 2029.

As part of an important strategic agreement to enhance the capabilities of national cricket in Afghanistan, Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, announced the signing of an exclusive five-year support agreement with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

The agreement, which spans from 2025 to 2029, makes Abu Dhabi the exclusive host for all training camps, international matches, tournaments, and age-group matches for the Afghanistan Cricket Board, further solidifying Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub as the leading sports destination in the country. The Afghanistan Cricket Board will also continue its cooperation with the Emirates Cricket Board to utilize multiple venues in the UAE to host men's bilateral matches, while the partnership provides a platform for emerging Afghan cricket players, playing a key role in diversifying and strengthening the national cricket scene.

The agreement also includes support for the Afghanistan Cricket Board to facilitate its global movements and enhance player development pathways.

The agreement was signed by Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub, and Naseem Khan, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, in the presence of His Excellency Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, to support this partnership. This agreement follows high-level discussions between the Afghanistan Cricket Board, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub, where all parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding global cricket opportunities for Afghan players.

His Excellency Aref Al Awani said, “We are proud to have Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub sign the agreement with the Afghanistan Cricket Board, and the leading role this agreement plays in supporting the growth of Afghan cricket. We are also proud to continue hosting various global tournaments, programs, and training camps in Abu Dhabi, where our world-class infrastructure ensures the success of these events."

Matt Boucher stated, “Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub is proud to be the global home for Afghan cricket. Our facilities have already hosted some of the best players in the world, and this agreement strengthens our commitment to nurturing global cricket talent and utilizing its social power. We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting Afghanistan over the past two years, and we are delighted to once again confirm Abu Dhabi as their second home.”

Naseem Khan, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, expressed his gratitude for the continuous support from Abu Dhabi and the UAE. He said, “We are incredibly excited to enter into this fruitful partnership with Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub, which will allow us to benefit from the outstanding facilities available at this destination to develop cricket across all age groups. Confirming Abu Dhabi as our second home marks a new turning point for Afghan cricket. The UAE has played an important role in providing a platform for us to compete at the highest level, and I would like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for their ongoing support. This opportunity will now allow us to focus on Abu Dhabi as our training base and home for all age groups, which will help us elevate sporting success in Afghanistan and build a strong future for the game in our country.”

This historic agreement, supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, affirms Abu Dhabi's position as a leading destination for cricket and multi-sport excellence, ensuring sustainable growth and a global vision for the sport.
