Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship 2025 signs sponsorship agreements with various partners
The Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship signed a number of sponsorship agreements with various partners, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, in addition to His Excellency Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and a number of industry leaders and media representatives.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship is jointly organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, with the aim of preserving the UAE’s marine heritage and promoting traditional fishing sports in a manner that reflects authentic Emirati values and sustainability.
The sponsorship contracts were signed by His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Acting Executive Director of Festivals and Events at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, with representatives from Abu Dhabi Marine, Meer, Al Masaood Automobiles, Abu Dhabi Media Network, Auto Sport, Suzuki Marine, Alqemzi Marine, Al Dhafra Marine, Delma Marine, Al Yousuf Motors, and Yamaha. His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei remarked: “Our partnership with this group of sponsors enhances the status of the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship, and contributes to achieving our goals of preserving marine heritage and promoting traditional sports. These partnerships contribute to supporting our vision of promoting sports tourism and attracting participants and followers from all over the world, which reflects the UAE’s position as a global hub for sports and tourism events, and a distinguished environment.”
The Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship includes four main competitions, across which 312 prizes are allocated, with a combined value totaling AED 4.342 million. Prizes were distributed to the winners in the four championships, which include the Al Dhafra Grand Kingfish Championship, for the Men’s and Women’s categories. The Al Dhafra Grand Kingfish Championship was organised from 10 to 12 January, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. The Al Mugheirah Women's Kingfish Championship will be rescheduled according to developments.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship, which is scheduled for next April, includes the Men’s and Women’s categories, and will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The Yas Grand Kingfish Championship, which also included the Men’s and Women's categories, was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, from 14 to 16 January.
The Al Dhafra Grand Kingfish Championship, which was held from 10 to 12 January, witnessed fierce competition between 1,800 sailors representing 18 different nationalities, onboard 327 boats, including 305 boats in the Men's category and 22 boats in the Women's. The competitions were launched from three locations: Abu Dhabi, Al Mirfa, and Delma Island, with huge cash prizes worth AED 1.168 million up for grabs. The 110 fish caught by the participants had a total combined weight of 1,800 kg.
