Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre Partner to Integrate Health Awareness and Prevention into Community Running Events
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) have announced a strategic partnership to transform ADSC’s Community Running Events into sustainable platforms for health awareness and prevention. The partnership will harness community enthusiasm for physical activity to encourage members of the public to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Under the agreement, ADPHC becomes the Official and Exclusive Public Health Partner for the Community Running Events organised by ADSC across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, and will also sponsor one of the events, strengthening the integration between sport and health awareness and prevention programmes.
The partnership will integrate public health awareness messaging across every stage of the events, alongside health screening and awareness programmes and interactive experiences for participants. It will also draw on aggregated data and participation indicators to support the development of future health initiatives and programmes.
His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said the agreement reflects the Council’s commitment to using community sport as a platform to enhance quality of life. He added: “Community running events are an important opportunity to encourage members of the community to embrace physical activity as a way of life. We are proud of our partnership with Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, which helps connect sports participation with health awareness and extend health and prevention messages to wider segments of society.”
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, said: “This partnership reflects the importance of integrating health and sport to build a more aware and active community. Through it, we look forward to strengthening the presence of health awareness and prevention programmes at community events and motivating individuals to make everyday choices that support their health and quality of life, reinforcing our commitment to building a healthier community.”
The agreement forms part of joint efforts to increase community participation in physical activity and encourage healthy lifestyles among members of the community.
