The Algerian and Lebanese national teams win Arab Swimming Championships titles in Abu Dhabi
The Algerian national swimming team won the men's title at the sixth Arab Swimming Championships, which concluded yesterday, while the Lebanese team won the women's title in the same tournament. A total of 120 male and female swimmers from 16 Arab countries participated.
The championship competitions were held over four days, at the Mohamed Bin Zayed City Swimming Pool in Abu Dhabi, and were organized by the Arab Swimming Federation, in cooperation with the UAE Swimming Federation and the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Sports Club, and with the support and sponsorship of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The Algerian men's team won nine medals (eight gold and one silver), and the Qatari team came in second with 15 medals (five gold, six silver, and four bronze), followed by the Tunisian team with 10 (four gold, one silver, and five bronze).
In the women's category, the tournament witnessed strong competition between the Lebanese and Algerian teams, with each of them winning seven golds, but the Lebanese swimmers excelled in the number of silver medals (nine) compared to the two silver medals won by the Algerians. Both teams were equal in the number of bronzes (four), while the Syrian team came in third with four golds and two bronzes.
