Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx - Protime) has won stage 1, the Al Masaood Equipment Rental Stage, of the fourth edition of the UAE Tour Women, ahead of Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ) and Zoe Backstedt (Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto).

Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx - Protime) is also the first Red Jersey of the race as she leads the General Classification.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and Red Jersey Lorena Wiebes said: "This win makes it a great start of the season. We did a good job as a team in the last ten kilometres. We knew from two years ago that this is a difficult finish. The straight line is so long. We could also use the other teams in the final and luckily I got a gap for sprinting. UAE Team ADQ did a very good lead out. We know that we don't have our best lead out here so we started our lead out early, then Barbara [Guarischi] and I would find our way. That's how we could use Team UAE and it worked out well today. I chose Lara Gillespie's wheel, seeing that her train had a lot of speed. I gambled a bit by choosing the left side. I said this morning that one stage win was my target but we'll try to get the next two as well. We also have Anna [van der Breggen] there for GC so hopefully we can show some more good things in the coming days".
STAGE 2, DUBAI POLICE ACADEMY-HAMDAN BIN MOHAMED SMART UNIVERSITY, 145 KM - DUBAI STAGE

A stage in Dubai. Starting at the Dubai Police Academy, the race will pass the classic sites of these stages such as the Al Qudra Cycle Track, Dubai Sports City, and Meydan Racecourse, before finishing at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University. The entire route winds along very wide, and substantially straight, roads interspersed with roundabouts that have a very large radius and are well paved.
