The Abu Dhabi Sports Council reveals the route for the "Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo"
With one month to go until the race, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has unveiled the route for the fourth edition of the “Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo” cycling event, scheduled for 21 December 2025. The race will commence at the Haza’a Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and finish at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area of Abu Dhabi, covering a total distance of 150 km.
Participants will ride via a number of major roads in the Al Ain region, including Tawam Street, Al Roudah Street and Razeen Road, before reaching the finish line in Abu Dhabi. The route includes five water-station points to ensure participant comfort and safety throughout the course.
This year’s edition features long straight stretches as well as some gentle rises and light inclines, making it suitable for both professional riders and ambitious amateurs alike.
H.E. Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, affirmed that the race forms a key pillar in the Emirate’s journey to become a global destination for cycling. He indicated that the fourth edition will see a significant increase in prize money, which will reach AED 2 million distributed across 364 winners, reflecting the event’s continuing growth and development.
Al Hashemi added: “This year’s edition starts in Al Ain and finishes in Abu Dhabi, offering a new experience for participants following three prior editions that set off in the opposite direction.”
The Council places strong emphasis on safety: specialised medical teams will be stationed along the route, complemented by full technical support including assistance vehicles sponsored by Ben Hamouda Motors, and transport and emergency vehicles to ensure immediate support for cyclists when needed.
In addition, the fourth edition will see the launch of the Race Village, which will include interactive activities for spectators, rest areas for participants, dedicated zones for families, as well as exhibitor and partner platforms — delivering a fully integrated and enjoyable experience for all participants and visitors.
The event will be broadcast live in its entirety by Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, featuring a studio-based analysis before, during and after the race, along with field coverage of the main stages, and presentation of participants, categories and results.
The race is part of the “Bike Abu Dhabi” platform and its annual initiatives, which aim to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, enhance quality of life, and embody the Emirate’s commitment to making cycling a fundamental part of community life.
Since its launch in 2022, the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo has succeeded in attracting a global field of participants. The previous edition2024 saw over 1,000 cyclists of more than 70 nationalities take part, a reflection of the spirit of tolerance and the human values embraced by the UAE.
