UAE Police Higher Committee for UAE Tour 2026 Reviews Route Readiness and Field Implementation Mechanisms
The Police Higher Committee for the UAE Tour 2026 held its coordination meeting, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with the participation of traffic departments and security authorities across the UAE. The meeting took place at the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club headquarters on Hudayriat Island, as part of the transition into the field implementation and on-ground coordination phase, in preparation for the Tour’s launch in February, in line with the highest standards of safety and organization.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Director of International Events at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Council; and Lieutenant Colonel Salem Al Ameri, representative of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Traffic Coordination. Representatives from Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, Ajman Police, Umm Al Quwain Police, Fujairah Police, along with traffic and security authorities nationwide and the UAE Tour organizing team, also took part.
The meeting aimed to enhance institutional integration among traffic, security, and supporting entities to ensure unified decision-making and seamless field execution. It also focused on raising operational readiness for race routes and the accompanying convoy, in addition to coordinating media efforts to support traffic flow and reinforce the Tour’s organizational image.
During the meeting, the final routes of the UAE Tour were officially approved by the traffic departments of the participating emirates, based on specialized technical studies and comprehensive field inspections, in accordance with the highest safety and security standards, while highlighting the key tourist landmarks of each emirate.
Preparations are currently underway to conduct comprehensive coordination field visits in the coming period, aimed at enhancing operational readiness and unifying execution mechanisms among the relevant field teams, with continued assessment of conditions in areas affected by the Jebel Jais region.
The meeting also approved the organizational framework for the formation of the UAE Tour Federal Convoy, which consists of seven police patrols representing the seven emirates, with each patrol comprising two qualified personnel.
The police force of the host emirate will lead the Federal Convoy, ensuring local route knowledge, swift decision-making, and efficient field coordination. Points of contact and coordination responsibilities for each entity were also approved to ensure clarity of roles and smooth communication during implementation.
In addition, the meeting reviewed key pillars of the media plan, which include proactive coordination with security media, scheduling of timings, road closures and diversions, as well as real-time updates and emergency communication channels, to ensure timely public awareness before and during the event.
In this context, a clear framework for follow-up meetings was approved, encompassing stage meetings, emirate-level meetings, Federal Convoy meetings, media coordination meetings, and final follow-up meetings, ensuring disciplined execution and elevated readiness across all phases of operation.
This meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to deliver an exceptional edition of the UAE Tour 2026, reflecting the UAE’s global standing in hosting major sporting events and reaffirming the success of institutional partnership among all relevant entities.
