Fatima Bint Mubarak Women's Sports Award Introduces "Best Non-Olympic Sportswoman" Category in Its 10th Edition

The Fatima Bint Mubarak Women's Sports Award has announced the introduction of a new category titled "Best Non-Olympic Sportswoman" as part of the award categories for its 10th edition, which was recently unveiled. The award is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, "Mother of the Nation", and with the support, guidance and follow-up of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Ladies Clubs.

The introduction of the new category reflects the Award’s commitment to keeping pace with the rapid development of women’s sports and expanding the scope of recognition to include outstanding female athletes competing in non-Olympic disciplines, in appreciation of their remarkable achievements and their contributions to strengthening women’s presence across various sporting fields.

With the addition of the new category, the total prize value for the 10th edition has reached AED 2.2 million, distributed across nine individual and team categories. The individual categories include: Best Arab Sportswoman (AED 1 million), Best Emirati Sportswoman (AED 200,000), Best Para Athlete (AED 200,000), Best Young Athlete (AED 100,000), Best Coach (AED 100,000), Best Sports Media Influencer (AED 100,000), Best Sporting Family (AED 100,000), and Best Non-Olympic Sportswoman (AED 100,000). The team category includes the Best Team Award, with a prize of AED 300,000.

Nominations for all award categories will remain open until September 30, 2026, while the awards ceremony will take place on November 11, 2026.

The introduction of the new category underscores the Award’s ongoing commitment to developing its programmes and categories in line with the evolving sports landscape, while providing opportunities for a broader segment of female athletes to compete for one of the region’s most prestigious awards dedicated to women’s sports.

The newly introduced category also aims to highlight the exceptional achievements of female athletes in non-Olympic sports and inspire more women to pursue excellence and innovation, thereby supporting the continued development of women’s sports and enhancing their presence and standing across various arenas.

Since its launch, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women's Sports Award has played a pivotal role in supporting and empowering women in sports, fostering a culture of excellence and leadership, and showcasing inspiring female role models whose achievements have elevated the name of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab world on the international sporting stage.
